Aim: \nIn this article we present a rare complication of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding: Emphysematous gastritis with gastric necrosis secondary to superior mesenteric artery syndrome. Which unlike the rest of the articles, it is explained the cause that led to this syndrome. \nCase presentation:\nA 29 –year-old French woman with a bariatric history (BMI= 55.9; Height=166cm, weight = 154) underwent laparoscopic gastric banding for morbid obesity and was emergency re-operated for band slippage and regained weight. In 2017 she experienced acute abdominal pain associated with nausea without being able to vomit for which she was admitted to the emergency hospital. The computed tomographic revealed a massive distension of her stomach and duodenum, pneumatosis and portal venous gas. A junction syndrome at 3rd level of the duodenum linked to a superior mesenteric artery syndrome. Surgery treatment was needed considering the massive gastric necrosis for which a total gastrectomy with Roux en Y eophagojejunostomy anastomosis was performed. Due to fear of a possible rupture of the duodenum remaining part may occur, a 2cm latero-later duodenojejunostomy anastomosis was performed to ensure a good biliary drainage of the duodenum. The patient was discharged from the hospital within 10 days.\nConclusion\nThe fastest way to treat the patient was to prescribe her parenteral nutrition with the intention of gaining weight but because gastric emptying cannot be achieved the SMA can become a lethal complication due to the gastric necrosis.

The paper presents the elucidation of the concept of migration and theories describing the process of migration, determines the issue of openness to immigration and presents its theoretical explanation. The factors determining the attitude towards immigration and immigrants are examined by dividing the factors into the main groups of economic and social-cultural factors. Analysis of immigration trends in Lithuania is presented. The paper aims to develop theoretical framework for assessment of employer openness to immigrants by revealing the main factors determining the attitudes of employers to labour immigrants and apply this framework in order to determine whether it is possible to integrate labour immigrants into the labour market in Lithuania.

Surgeons have sufficient knowledge and should be motivated regarding adopting novel surgical devices, techniques, principles in order to provide the best care for the patients. Not everyone can become a great surgeon, but a great surgeon can come from anywhere. The same principle can be applied also in innovation. Surgery involves not only knowledge, concentration and precision but also imagination and creativity and if the imagined device can facilitate your work why not design it. The role of this article is to help any surgeon regardless of which hospital his working: poor hospital with lack of materials or very developed one with everything a surgeon needs. The device created by us is a very cheap one and any hospital can afford it. We have created a prototype (surgical device for safe and fast surgical swans count) that can be diversified or improved by using electronic technology. The role of this surgical device is to facilitate the collection of the used surgical swabs and to reduce the time allocated to the surgical swabs counting, which implies reducing surgical time.

We have demonstrated that LC3Bylation, a covalent modification of target protein lysine residue with the microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3B (LC3B) by Atg16L complex as a positive feedback regulation loop, is required for the late autophagy process, instead of its phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) lipidation which is responsible for elongation and recruitment to an autophagosome. We observed that the expression of PIG3 (p53-inducible gene 3; quinone oxidoreductase; PIG3) was enhanced up to 11 times in LC3B overexpression cell line than in its background HEK293 cells based on RNA sequencing analysis. Consequently, we observed that LC3Bylation on 257K in 256FKRG259 of PIG3 was only recognized by site directed mutagenesis. With PIG3 expression alone, cell autophagy activity was enhanced 11 times. These results suggest that PIG3 is feed-backed by its own autophagy machinery through LC3Byaltion to recruit into the autophagosome, eventually enhancing autophagy activity. PIG3 as one target protein of LC3Bylation can enhance cell autophagy and oncogenic activity without showing TP53 expression change.

A snowpit study was conducted in the vicinity of the Jang Bogo Station (JBG).\nSeasonal variations of the isotopic and chemical compositions of snowpits can provide useful\ntools for dating the age of the snowpit and examining the sources of aerosol. Distinct seasonal\nvariations of stable water isotopes of the snowpit were observed, with a slope of 8.2 from the\nlinear isotopic relationship between oxygen and hydrogen, which indicates that the snow\naccumulated during three years without a significant post-depositional process. Based on the\nseasonal layers with δD and δ18O maxima and minima, it was determined that the snowpit\ncontained snow deposited over a three-year period (2008–2010). The positive correlations (r >\n0.85) between sea-salt ions and the values of the MSA and nssSO4\n2– warm period indicate the\ncontribution of an oceanic source. This study will support further investigations in this region.

The main objective of this research was the realization of advanced oxide materials, obtained by technologies consistent with sustainable development, materials that are used in special operating conditions (the existence of a temperature difference of over 10000C between the mold wall and steel crust) as in the case of continuous casting of steel. These are the lubricating powders for the crystallizer, in the composition of which the blast furnace slag was harnessed as a basic raw material.

Abstract:\n\n Retinal images provide early signs of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and hypertension. These signs can be investigated based on micro aneurysms or smaller vessels. These studies require accurate tracing of retinal vessel structure from fundus images in an automated manner. However, the existing threshold based segmentation encounters great difficulties such as the detected edges are consisted of discrete pixels and may be incomplete or discontinuous and computationally expensive. To solve above problem, Hierarchical Cat Swarm behaviour based Optimization scheme (HCSO) with Mean Shift Clustering (MSC) algorithm is proposed in this paper. In diagnosis, the vessel angles and lengths are changed particularly in junctions and it’s detected by using vessel segmentation. Also the bifurcations and crossings are disconnected and the vessel paths are interrupted in retinal image. So, the proposed system focused these kinds of junction problems. Initially, the input image is pre-processed using top hat filtering to enhance the accurate vessel extraction. Then, the geometric structure based features are extracted by using morphological scheme. Here, the junction problem is analyzed through a connectivity kernel. The experimental result shows the proposed work has efficient and effective vessel segmentation and can be useful for image-aided diagnosis systems and further applications.

In the current global era, most health information systems have been implemented with the support of information and communication technology. This has an impact on the enforcement of dual duties for health professionals as health workers and as operators of health information systems. This \'new task addition\' will lead to increased efforts to be able to operate the information system properly. For some health professionals, this will feel burdensome, which can ultimately lead to user resistance, either actively or passively. Both types of resistance must be given serious attention because it often leads to failure in the implementation of new information systems. Meanwhile, the occurrence of passive resistance needs to be watched because at the beginning stage is usually not known by the managers, so this resistance fails to be anticipated. If not well anticipated, then this will grow worse. In order for this to be prevented, the effort that must be done by the organization is always to improve and maintain organizational support for the users.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the association among different types of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of interleukin-6 (IL-6), interleukin-10 (IL-10) and interleukin-18 (IL-18) genes and perinatal infections in newborns, as well as detection the relation among allelic variants of mentioned genes with the level of their product. Genetic polymorphism was identified in the regulatory parts of the promoter regions of IL-6 (at -597, -572, -174 positions), IL-10 (at -819, -592 positions) and IL-18 (at -656, -137, +105 positions) genes in 76 healthy and 50 infected newborns with perinatal diseases. The increase in the frequency of occurrence of G allele in the promoter region of the IL-6 gene at -174, -572 positions, IL-10 gene at positions -819, -592 and IL-18 at -656 position and nucleotide substitution in other positions revealed the importance of relation between point mutations in IL-6, IL-10, IL-18 genes and the development of intrauterine infections. The genetic polymorphisms of IL-6, IL-10, IL-18 genes and their association with the occurrence of perinatal infections in newborns allow classifying them as a predictor of congenital infections.

In this paper, we propose a hybrid mining algorithm based on J48 and Naïve Bayes (NB) for intrusion detection system (IDS). Both J48 and NB are outstanding and efficient classifier for determining classification task in data mining. The goal of our proposed technique is to classify incoming network traffic connection as normal or abnormal (attacks) where each feature vector consists of 41 feature values of network traffic data. Besides our proposed technique also discusses some challenges typically faced in the IDS, such as how to discard redundant features as well as how to reduce the contradictory records from the large training data set. We test the performance of our proposed hybrid technique against those of existing J48, NB and Bayes Net respectively via the detection accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and F-measure. The detection accuracy of 91.36% was obtained through the combination of J48 and NB classifier using sum-rule scheme. The experimental results show that proposed technique achieved considerably better results on the two real benchmark datasets. Hereby it can be said that the combining classifier scheme using sum-rule can deliver better results than using an individual classifier.

Does today’s textile industry merely pursue labor-intensive, low-value-added products and relocate production to reduce costs? Should only high-tech industries emphasize research and development (R&D) and high-value-added products? Firms must make extensive expenditures on R&D and personnel over years to accumulate, absorb and apply knowledge from internal and external sources. Is there a corresponding positive rate of return? \n This empirical study researches the impact of R&D intensity (RDI) and firm size on 2009–2014 business performance of Taiwanese textile companies. It adopts GMM estimation to avoid endogeneity and to better explain our models’ dynamic factors.\n Findings indicate that RDI in textile industry has a positive impact on business performance. Effects of R&D on performance are not limited to high-tech manufacturing. The effect of R&D investment also appears in people’s impressions of traditional textile industries. R&D needs enterprise resources, time, absorption of knowledge, and R&D spillovers to apply new knowledge and skills to new products and processes. These inputs also help to reduce production cost or time, introduce or improve value-added products, improve gross margins, increase competitive ability, and enhance business performance. Better business performance also enhances accumulation of assets. The greater the shipment of available resources, the greater is the circulation. Further, the study endorses the resource-based view that a firm’s resources correlate positively with performance. This study’s findings will be useful in aiding practitioners, researchers, and policymakers and will be of some help in terms of providing a reference for future research.

Reference crop evapotranspiration (ETo) is one of the major climatic element and required to be precisely quantified for optimum use of water resources. In this study 1224 months, mean monthly reference crop evapotranspiration data series of humid subtropical climatic region were used for simulation. For removal of periodicity from data series, differencing process was applied. One of the best time series model, Seasonal Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA) model were used for modelling and forecasting. Auto correlation function and partial auto correlation function were used in identification of model and Q- value (L Jung- Box statistics), residual auto correlation function and partial auto correlation function helped in selection of best fitted model. The correlation coefficient between observed and forecasted reference crop evapotranspiration were found 0.9854.This study is beneficial for estimating crop water demand, scheduling of irrigation, stake holder, local farmer, water resources manager, and for making local and national policy.

By the end of 2016, the percentage of senior citizens over 65 years of age will exceed 12% of the total population of Taiwan, and the aging population index will be 85.7%. Taiwan is therefore approaching an aged society as defined by the World Health Organization, WHO, in which more than 14% of the population is over 65 years of age. Taiwan has a hot and humid climate; the weather is very humid even in the winter. The most suitable room temperature for most people is 22-24 ?C and optimal indoor humidity levels are around 50%. In this study, a new heat pump system is developed to provide drinking, bathing water, can be integrated with air-conditioning system to apply cold water as refrigerant and hot water as heat medium to offer warm air in winter and cold air in summer respectively. The results of this study indicate that the new heat pump system reduced the highest indoor temperature by 3 ?C and decreased the relative humidity to 55-65%. In the winter, the indoor temperature could reach 20 ?C with the heat on, and the relative humidity was as low as 60-65%. The results of a questionnaire administered to the residents of the elderly care institution reveal that the new heat pump system significantly improved the ventilation, air quality, and comfort environment of the elderly care institution, demonstrating the benefits of the heat pump system. However, the residents do not feel that the new system significantly improved the temperature and humidity of the living environment in the institution.
